During the past 55 years in Canada, I have been able to enjoy the passing of the four seasons, each distinctly beautiful in its own way.
Springtime awakens the tulips, magnolias, cherry and plum blossoms from a restful winter. I love to capture the interplay of yellow, lavender, red and magenta. The resplendent, bold, yet controlled bursts of colour lifts my spirit, inspiring feelings of joy and harmony.
During summer, I enjoy immersing myself in the rainbows of blooming flowers. In my studio garden, I hear the birds singing amongst a backdrop of towering pine trees. I love to walk through winding forest trails and discover untouched wildflowers and ferns. I sketch and photograph the splendors and romances of nature at such moments to capture its joyous and mysterious colours.
In autumn, I am entranced by the incredible hues of brilliant gold, orange and crimson leaves of maples, and the silvery branches of birches. It is this vision that evokes an overpowering feeling that inspires me to paint this graceful season.
I love to capture the beauty of Canada’s winter. I look for intense, bold colours that jump from their surroundings and subtle shades that blend and complement one another. As I paint the peaceful landscape, the serenity and tranquility of winter’s snow is captured on my canvas.
Each season is special, giving me limitless inspiration. I give a little of myself into each painting to demonstrate how each season’s qualities make me feel. I especially love to paint snow scenes. I hope that the juxtaposition of colourful autumn leaves against the bright white snow and black pearl waters is able to evoke happiness and joy in my viewers, warming cold winter nights and cooling hot summer days. The endless beauty of nature and wilderness are always vivid in my memories and wait for me to transform them onto canvas. I consider myself a very fortunate person to have viewers around the world to enjoy my artwork and share in my happiness. - TINYAN
